Hindsight

I was going through my old journals last night and it was so much fun reading them. I have every possible detail of my life from class 8th to 10th, recorded in those journals. I stopped writing diary entries in high school. I would just write on days that I was feeling something really strongly and tear it away later on. Well, it isn't like I regret it. There isn't too much about class 11th and 12th that I want to be reminded of anyway :P

Coming back to those journals; I have written in the most kiddish way possible xD It's got my poems, favourite quotes, notes from friends, bus tickets, movie tickets, candy wrappers and flowers from my first Valentine's Day, pictures of Shahid Kapur and my autograph from him, pictures of my dogs and of course, every minute detail of my school life :P And the best part of all this? Nobody can read what I have written because it's written in a secret handwriting of my own which I *invented* when I was 13 xD Surprisingly, I still remember it very well. I came up with it because my brother would keep reading my journal when I had only started to write and later because I didn't want my parents to know what I was up to. Heh :P Sneaky, eh? xD

If you think you're beaten, you are.
If you'd like to win but you think you can't,
It's almost a cinch that you won't.
For out in the world you'll find,
Success begins with a fellow's will,
It's all in the state of mind.

Full many a race is lost, ere the race is run.
Think big and your deeds will grow.
Think small and you will fall behind.
Think you can and you will;
It's all in the state of mind.

You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to believe in yourself,
If you wish to reach the skies.
Life's battles don't always go,
To the faster or stronger man.
But sooner than later the fellow who wins,
Is the one who thinks he can.

Reading those journals made me miss school very much (and I have barely missed school before this...) But you know what the best part is? I can always relive school life by merely reading those journals. :) The poem above, is one of the poems I found in my diary. In hindsight, it's never made so much sense ever before..

I am most likely to leave for Delhi on the 3rd. There shan't be any blogging or internet for almost two weeks (unless I hijack my cousins' computer :P) I have no idea how I would survive but I guess this could cure my internet addiction xD I realised only last night that I haven't shopped, used my cellphone or had a drink in six months :o Un(bloody)believable. I couldn't go an hour without my cellphone earlier and it's funny that I didn't really need it so much anyway. I have barely noticed it's absence. I'll shop once I am in Delhi even though I can still do without it for another two months after which I will be compelled to shop for college. Gah !! Dx Erm. I had a lot more to say but my brain just blanked out on me :P Later «33

Lame Quotes

All right, people keep quoting these random lines that they heard and never tried making sense out of. It makes me cringe and here's why..

• Love is not love until you give it away - Oh I am sorry, I didn't know I was doing charity now. Why would I want to give away something or someone that I love? How is someone else more deserving of something that I have? It just doesn't make sense.

• Money is the root of all evil. - Wow. It's like saying "The dog ate my homework." An excuse for those who can't take responsibility for their actions. Pure drivel. [counter quote] Unless you discover that money is the root of all good, you ask for your own destruction. When money ceases to become the means by which men deal with one another, then men become the tools of other men. Blood, whips and guns--or dollars. Take your choice--there is no other.

• All men are equal. - No. They. Are. Not. Period. [counter quote] As a matter of fact, the person who loves everybody and feels at home everywhere is the true hater of mankind. He expects nothing of men, so no form of depravity can outrage him. I mean the person who loves Joan of Arc and the salesgirls in dress shops on Broadway–with equal fervour. I mean the person who loves your beauty and the women he sees in a subway–the kind that can’t cross their knees and show flesh hanging publicly over their garters–with the same sense of exaltation. I mean the person who loves the clean, steady, unfrightened eyes of man looking through a telescope and the white stare of an imbecile–equally.

• Love is pity and selflessness : [counter quote] Love is reverence, and worship, and glory, and the upward glance. Not a bandage for dirty sores. But they don't know it. Those who speak of love most promiscuously are the ones who've never felt it. They make some sort of feeble stew out of sympathy, compassion, contempt and general indifference, and they call it love. Once you've felt what it means to love as you and I know it–the total passion for the total height–you're incapable of anything less.

Those counter quotes are from Ayn Rand :) Obsessed? Pretty much ;)

I Am Done

My love affair with those little white sticks of addiction is finally over. There won't be any more of them. There isn't any particular reason for stopping just like there wasn't one to start with. Well, it's a nice thing to do anyway :P I have never been addicted to anything in my life and I don't plan on changing that. Let's see how this test I put myself through turns out. Heh. It's easier to not try something, but it's harder to try and quit. Word out ♥.

Wow, this layout has taken me the longest time to complete. Seriously. I spent hours fixing it and making it Internet Explorer and Firefox compatible. +wipes off sweat bead+ Thanks Jules for helping me :) And now that its finally done, it's made all the effort worthwhile. I love the layout very much and I am probably not going to change it for an entire month =o Heh. Yay for wabbit with an attitude :P I hope you like the layout as much as I do. I have never had a dark layout before which is surprising really. Anyway, as always ~ let me know what you think :) Word out ♥.

Save Thy Grammar

You know what makes me dig a fork into my eyeballs? Horrendous grammar, that's what. I realise that not everyone can be fluent when it comes to language but seriously, there are some basic grammar etiquettes that always need to be kept in mind. Capitalisation, punctuation, correct spelling and proper grammar isn't rocket science. I am sick of reading blog entries, websites, emails, etcetera full of rubbish that I need to sit and decode !! I decided to make a list and here are the most flagrant grammar mistakes that make you look stupid.

Loose vs. Lose : The opposite of lose is find. The opposite of loose is tight.
× : I always tend to loose my books while travelling.
√ : I always tend to lose my books while travelling.
√ : When I lose weight, I need new pyjamas because my old ones get loose

It's vs. Its (or god forbid, its') : Its means a possessive pronoun meaning belonging to it or of it. It's is a contraction for it is or it has.
× : Download Firefox, along with it's addons.
√ : Download Firefox, along with its addons.
× : The laptop is overheating and its making that funny noise again.
√ : The laptop is overheating and it's making that funny noise again.

They're vs. Their : Their means a possessive pronoun meaning belonging to them. They're is a contraction for they are or they were.
× : The teachers are in they're weekly planning meeting.
√ : The teachers are in their weekly planning meeting.
× : Students must leave there phones at the door, and their not happy about it.
√ : Student must leave their phones at the door, and they're not happy about it.

i.e. vs. e.g. : [i.e.] means that is. [e.g.] means for example. And a comma follows both of them.
× : Use an anti-spyware program (i.e., Ad-Aware).
√ : Use an anti-spyware program (e.g., Ad-Aware).

Effect vs. Affect : Affect is a verb that means to influence. Effect is a noun that means a result. If you affect something, you can cause an effect.
× : The outage shouldn't effect any users during work hours.
√ : The outage shouldn't affect any users during work hours.
√ : The outage shouldn't have any effect on users.
√ : We will effect several changes during the downtime.

Different than vs. Different from : Different than is incorrect. Period.
× : This setup is different than the one at the main office.
√ : This setup is different from the one at the main office.
√ : This setup is better than the one at the main office.

Lay vs. Lie : You lay an object/non-living thing. A living person lies down.
× : I got dizzy and had to lay down.
√ : I got dizzy and had to lie down.
√ : She asked me to lay the flower vase on the table.

Then vs. Than : Than, is a conjunction which is used to compare things. Then, is an adverb which is used with descriptions of time.
× : The accounting department had more problems then we did.
√ : The accounting department had more problems than we did.
√ : I think she looks dangerously skinny, but then, what do I know?

Could of, would of vs. Could have, would have : Do I even need to explain this?
× : I could of installed that app by mistake.
√ : I could have installed that app by mistake.
× : I would of sent you a meeting notice, but you were out of town.
√ : I would have sent you a meeting notice, but you were out of town.

Ellipsis : A mark or marks as [--] or […] to indicate an omission or suppression of letters or words. Using it repeatedly just makes your writing look ugly. Now why would you want that?
× : I have no idea how to get out of all this trouble.....
√ : I have no idea how to get out of all this trouble...

Anyways vs. Anyway : This is going to be short and simple. Do not say or write anyways . Ever. The word is anyway. The form anyways is found in some dialects in the United States, but it is not standard English, and it should never be used in any situation where you want to be considered reasonably well educated. That's all there is to it.
× : Whether you like it or not, I'm going anyways.
√ : Whether you like it or not, I'm going anyway.

Me, myself and I : [Myself] is a special object (direct or indirect), to be used only when the subject is you (note I didn't write "...when the subject is yourself"). I can give a gift to *myself* since I am the one doing the giving. The Captain can never "give a gift to myself" since the subject is the Captain. Many people mix up the personal pronouns I and me. "I" is always a subject. To avoid trouble, delete the other person from the equation and see what you’re left with. If you’ve written [Sandra and me find that offensive] take away Sandra. You’re left with Me find that offensive. That sounds strange, so you know that I is correct in this case.
× : The Captain handed the medals to my partner and myself.
× : The Captain handed the medals to my partner and I.
√ : The Captain handed the medals to my partner and me.
√ : The giraffes took a liking to Natasha and me.

My Lover's Gone

This song is playing in my head all the time, I thought I'd post it here. The music is obviously beautiful, since it's sung by Dido :)

My lover's gone,
His boots no longer by my door.
He left at dawn,
And as I slept I felt him go.
Returns no more.
I will not watch the ocean.
My lover's gone,
No earthly ships will ever bring him home again,
Bring him home again.

My lover's gone,
I know that kiss will be my last.
No more his song,
The tune upon his lips has passed.

I sing alone,
While I watch the ocean.
My lover's gone,
No earthly ships will ever bring him home again,
Bring him home again.

News Flash

This just in ! Esha dealt with an ugly blast from the past today (yeah, her recent past is pretty ugly; literally & metaphorically). She had been expecting it all day but denying it to herself at the same time. You need not know what she is on about, just keep reading because you're bored aren't you? :P

I think I got off the wrong side of the bed today (even though there is only one side of my bed, the other side is against the wall but whatever..) You see, I was doing weird things since early morning. I went for a run at frigging 7.00 in the am and if you've read this blog of mine earlier, you know I have been a lazy ass lately. Hmph. Maybe I shouldn't workout at all :o That has to be it xD Hah !! Now moving on, my first puff at precisely 11.15 made me cough. No, I didn't choke on smoke even the first time. I ignored it as a minor miscalculation but my first roll of happiness today, made me slightly dizzy. I let the roll die on its own, not helping .. just sitting and staring, still slightly giddy and somewhat sleepy. I slept through the day, woke up late in the evening for the ugly blast I was talking about. Probably the most unpleasant thing I have seen for ages now and it's funny because it would've seemed normal to anyone and everyone else. Pillow punching is definitely a good stress reliever :P And so is speaking to my adorable cousin :) Actually, adorable is kind of ironic keeping in mind the stuff we spoke about. LoL. Aah, so anyway ~ it's been vented and it's gone. Yay for blogging «33

Peek-A-Boo

Since I have nothing better to do, I am going to take you on a tour to none other than my computer !! Hey, don't you dare laugh at me :@ It's something you are sure to enjoy :3 Not like you have a choice, but whatever :P

Now for starters, like most of you know ~ I have this crazy habit having things organized and in order . It might not match the accepted meaning of organized because I have my own weird sense of organizing things, like they have to be either symmetrical or justified. All quantities (files, folders, etcetera) have to be in multiples of five or an odd number. ( I have to have three folders and not in any CASE four of them. If I really need four, I will create a random useless fifth folder so that the number of folders are an odd number o.o). Oh, did I already mention I was crazy? :P

I must have a central colour theme and everything will be that colour (my messenger, windows, wallpaper, firefox/flock theme, media player, yada yada yada). At the moment everything is coloured purple +pokes blog colour+ Lmfao. Don't tell me I didn't warn you about my weird sense of organizing :P I hate having a dozen icons on my desktop, it's just so untidy !! Every file/folder has to have a proper name and place (it can't be "untitled1" "untitled2" etcetera) :P

Enough with the blather, so [this] is what my desktop looks like at the moment and [this] is what my MSN Messenger looks like :P Oh yeah, Windows Vista is pretty hot xD Word out «3 Blogged with the Flock Browser.

Gossip Girl

Wow. I finally watched the new episode of Gossip Girl, it's named so aptly ~ The Blair Bitch Project. LoL. I think #14 has lived up to all the hype (and the three month wait). I hope it doesn't ever abruptly go off air again D: Just for future reference ~ it airs every Monday and will be available for download every Tuesday :P

I kind of feel sorry for Blair. I always like the bitch for some reason xD The goodie-two shoes girl next-door image is a bit too unrealistic, don't you think? And what the heck is brewing between Nate and Jenny? They better not hook up or I'll personally go and wring Jenny's neck. Nate and Jenny are a mismatch made in heaven ¬¬ Mhmm. As for stuff with Serena ~ I wonder who {N} is :o It can't possibly be Nate, can it? :( It's not Nate to be cheap like that. Never know though :P

I can't wait for #15. And since it's already Wednesday today (IST), I'd have a brand new South Park episode to watch tomorrow morning. Yay !! Okay, that is pretty much it for now. I hope you guys like the stuff I added on the right. The blank-ness earlier got kind of depressing. Al right. Word out «3 Blogged with the Flock Browser.

Amen

  • I'm an atheist and I thank God for it. [Bernard Shaw]
  • I’m a polyatheist - there are many gods I don’t believe in.
  • When I die, I hope to go to Heaven, whatever the Hell that is. [Ayn Rand]
  • The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike. [Delos McKown]
  • Man created God in his image : intolerant, sexist, homophobic and violent. [Unknown]
  • Gods are fragile things; they may be threatened and killed by a whiff of science or a small dose of common sense. [Ayn Rand]
  • The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one. The happiness of credulity is a cheap and dangerous quality. [Bernard Shaw]
  • When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion. [Robert Pirsig]
  • And if there were a God, I think it very unlikely that He would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence. [Bertrand Russell]

Shall we say amen to that?

    Random

I think I have been running out of topics to blog about. I don't want this to be a complete rant blog but I have no idea what else to write about. Do you? Please leave me a message on my c-box if you want to read about anything in particular.

On a completely different note, I will most probably be going to Delhi on the 3rd of May. I am really looking forward to it (despite the effing heat) because I haven't been there for years now. I haven't met my cousins for just that long. I wonder what they look like now xD It's been so long. Hehe. I stay there for two weeks so I'd be back on the 18th of May.

The real crap starts when I am back from Delhi. I have college admissions to fret over -.- I don't know why, but as of this moment I am not really excited about starting college. Weird, right? I was pretty much excited last year. I guess I am probably going to miss all this free time that I have gotten used to in the last five months. Actually, not even that.. I am just unsure about what college will turn out to be this time around. I comfort myself with the fact that at least I get to do a course that I like. I hope it all works out, just talking about it makes me sick D: I wish I could fast forward my life to the part where I am done with college admissions xD I hate standing in lines and filling out applications. I thought I was done with it last year. Oh well, there is no escaping it.

On a brighter note, I am generally very happy these days. I have been less moody than before (which was plenty, don't even get me started on that). I am not scared of being alone in the house or sleeping with lights of either :P Lol. Why am I blogging this? xD

So, erm I just managed to get all of Dido's songs. Old and new. I am feeling like listening to slow, soft music instead of the usual bam bam :P Wow. I am turning into a grandma aren't I? :( I am reading Atlas Shrugged really slow for some reason. I have only finished the first chapter. I love Dangy's character (yes, the tiny bit that I have read is enough for me to love her). I think I'd like her more than Dominique. Anyhow, I am excited to watch Angelina Jolie play Dangy Taggart. I really want to finish reading the book before the movie comes out though :P

Anddd, new episodes of Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl are finally out. I am so glad the writers' strike is now over and done with. I have missed my favourite shows +clings+ I just got done watching an episode from DH and I have to find the new Gossip Girl episode (it only came out yesterday). Okay, enough of my hogwash now. I have to go do something more constructive with my time (read: laze around, eat, surf, blah). Word out «3 Blogged with the Flock Browser.

    My Favourite Ayn Rand Quotes

  • To say [I love you] one must first be able to say the I.
  • A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.
  • Evil requires the sanction of the victim.
  • The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.
  • The truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it.
  • There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: the fashionable non-conformist.
  • When I die, I hope to go to Heaven, whatever the Hell that is.
  • It's so graceless to be a martyr, it's honouring your adversaries too much.
  • Every man builds his world in his own image. He has the power to choose, but no power to escape the necessity of choice.
  • God ~ a being whose only definition is that he is beyond man's power to conceive.
  • I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.
  • The most depraved type of human being is the man without a purpose.

I have finally got the time to compile my favourite quotes from Ayn Rand. I don't think anyone will be able to put life so aptly, ever again. Amen ♥.

    Ahoy

I finish reading The Fountainhead a few days back and I still can't get it out of my head. I have been thinking about Roark plenty. For every little thing that happens, I wonder how Roark would deal with it and go ahead with that. I have never ever in my life read a book as beautifully, yet practically worded and expressed such as this one. I am in love with the spirit of Roark. I wish the book didn't have to end. I miss it very much.

I have however, started with Atlas Shrugged. Read only about 20 pages up till now. I am still waiting to get hooked on to it. I wonder if I'll kill the fun in reading it because I'd be expecting it to be as good as if not better than The Fountainhead :P We'll have to wait to find that out xD

On a completely different note ~ it was IPL's (Indian Premiere League) first match today. I was pretty excited about this one unlike my usual apathetic self. I am always that way about sports (a girl stereotype but whatever :P). Anyway, Knight Riders won really easy and it was so obvious right from the start that the other team didn't even stand a chance. SRK was seen cheering and jeering every time his team players gave a good shot. I personally really like the Knight Riders. I don't know if I have a favourite yet and I am not going to pick one just for the heck of it because I honestly don't even know what's going on with them until I see them play. Although, for now the Knight Riders are looking very promising. I am looking forward to a lot more of this ;P

Wow. It's already 1.30 AM. I better get to bed now xD If my Dad walks in on me still on the computer, I'd be so dead :P Word out ♥. Blogged with the Flock Browser.

    Ahem

As much as I liked the old layout, I was getting bored of it. I haven't posted for a while which is mostly because I don't have much to say at the moment. I am in my hibernating state, so to speak. I have been trying to read The Fountainhead as slowly as possible. No, not because I haven't found the time to finish it but because I don't want it to end. I can however still find some solace in the fact that I still have Atlas Shrugged to read. I most definitely want to read it before the movie comes out. I have heard so many people say that it is a let down after reading The Fountainhead, all I can do is hope that it isn't xD I revere the way Rand writes. I shall be posting my most favourite Ayn Rand quotes sometime soon. I have another 50 pages of The Fountainhead to go. Anyway, now coming back to the topic of the new layout ~ it's something different, isn't it? Unlike any blog skin you've seen before? I like it very much too :D Especially the black cat :* Let me know what you think. I will momentarily let my C-box open in a pop-up window because it made the layout look crowded. Word out ♥. GFX

I have been contemplating adding a graphics section to my blog. You know, so I could put up little tidbits that I have made which other bloggers can use on their site. I am going to start with something small like buttons and blinkies. I would love to do premade blogger layouts eventually but I still have a bunch of stuff to learn about how coding works. I got rid of my old expired trials of Animation Shop and found a full version of the same today ;P I am pretty excited about this because it lets me be a lot more creative. On your right is my first real attempt at animation. It's really simple, I know xD Ah, well. It's supposed to be a pirate rocker chick if you hadn't noticed :P Anyway, I am going to go play around with Animation Shop some more and hopefully design something you'd want to use :P Word out ♥.

    All Mixed Up

Well, I am in a very bloggy mood right now (yeah, I just made that word up :P). I haven't had a dear diary blog yet so I guess I might as well do it now. Now let's tell you what is going on with me at the moment. I am currently on an extended vacation (read: college dropout). No, I don't hate college. I just really detest the course that I was made take by my Dad :@ I am sure he had my best interests in mind but I am just not made for business management & shit like that D:

I have only two more months (April & May) before I start fretting over college admissions and the like. I really hope that the criteria of admission doesn't change from high school merit to some random common entrance exam. I would love to get into St. Xavier's again, because its the best Arts college out here. I did get in last year but I didn't take admission D: Ah well, no use digging up old graves.

All these months, I have been doing what I do best - writing, designing, yapping and eating xD Oh yeah, its been a lazy few months. I am so going to pay for it when college starts and I am all over town trying to finish projects and assignments. Ahaha. I have turned into such a lazy bum these days :P It would be fun to see it all go poof :o

I am currently playing for endless hours on Neopets. I do get bored at odd times of the day and switch to Tomb Raider xP I used to be good at that game when I was little but the newer versions are so hard. Lol. Or maybe I am just getting dumber.. maybe :P Whenever my brother manages to kick me off the computer (which happens to darn often these days), I get to reading :) I am almost done with The Fountainhead which is amazing because it took me a month to read it the first time and it took me just a week now :o Lol. I suppose having all this free time has something to do with it. The last time I read it was over a year back when I supposed to preparing for my board finals. Lmfao. I am one crazy girl :P

Once I do finish with The Fountainhead, I am going to blog about Rand's philosophy and what I think of it. I have wanted to do that for a really long time now. There are so many things that I didn't perceive as clearly before reading the book. Of course, being atheist helps so much more in understanding what she is talking about. More about all that in some other post of mine xP

I have been trying to get my butt to the gym for almost two weeks now and failing miserably D: I have resigned myself to starting with gym whenever I feel comfortable. Pfft. Yeah, like that is gonna happen anytime soon. OMG. I have gotten addicted to coffee of all things! I am randomly saying this because I got up in the middle of typing to get myself my third cup of coffee. I mean, I think I have had a bit of anything and everything that can be addictive and of ALL things I am addicted to coffee. Lmfao. How lame is that? D:

Moving on, I did get a new version of PSP today. I am now using PSP XI. Its much sleeker and I love it. Hehe. I am going to start designing with it soon and hopefully I will have a new layout sometime this week. Since it is Thursday another episode of South Park Season 12 must've released by now :D I am going to go hunt for it as soon as possible. You should watch South Park, you know xP I think thats all for now. See you stalkers later. Word out ♥.

    College Stuff

This stuff right here, is mostly for personal use. I am going to be applying for BMM (Bachelor of Mass Media) this June because I want to be a Journalist. I am really nervous and I have dropped an year so that I can do this course. I have no idea what is gonna happen xD

    BMM.
A three-year undergraduate media course, BMM – Bachelor Of Mass Media, make sure the pupils don’t puke parroted answers on their papers. It is structured to enhance creativity and brings practicality into the so-called ‘system’. With subjects like psychology and photography there’s no scope for cheating. The syllabus is tailored to teach the students the significance of contemporary issues. Cause there’s no point in teaching broadcast journalism on issues like World War I (though that is a part of the syllabus too). BMM provides specialization in Advertising and Journalism in the final year. The focus lies on practical aspects with students being expected to submit projects and stage a presentation.

    Colleges.
BMM is all about workshops, presentations, field trips and technical know how. So, see that the college provides you with best infrastructure like LCDs, Computers, Cameras etc. Choose a college with good visiting faculty. The college should provide the students with a number of guest lecturers, workshops, projects and field visits. Try and get some opinion on the goodwill of the colleges from the current BMMites.

In Mumbai, more than 23 colleges provide BMM. Some prominent colleges are St. Xaviers and KC. But don’t get upset if you don’t get through these colleges. SIES, Jai Hind, St. Andrews and Wilson are also good options. If you must ask, there have been success stories from SK Somaiya as well. So while selecting a college, prefer a college that is close to where you stay. Or else it could really get difficult to come back from evening shoots or nightovers. Don’t fall for big names’ they can only get you exposure, but it’s your talent that needs to shine through. As they say, heera koile ki khaan mein bhi chamakta hai.

    Eligibility.
On paper: The eligibility for this course is 10+2 from any stream i.e. science, commerce or arts with a compulsory 50% secured in the HSC. You need far more than that, creativity being the key factor. Being an extrovert will take you a long way. Having a rich dad always helps.

    Tests.
In order to seek admissions in BMM, one has to go through an entrance test. Colleges conduct these tests to analyze the candidates’ creativity, media understanding and English proficiency. The written test basically has questions related to current affairs, general knowledge, and logical questions. It also has some grammar questions, and story writing to check your English comprehension. It also has creative questions like 10 uses of earplugs, underwear, toothbrush etc. They might ask you to even strategize an ad to sell Lungis. Once you get through the written test, group discussions and personal interview follows. These days some colleges skip group discussions. Interview is not very tough. Some colleges make you go through stressful moment but most times its a very friendly and amicable atmosphere. Tip: Just be yourself, honest and don’t be manipulative with your answers. They can smell a lie from a mile away.

    Preparation.
Read newspaper daily and polish your general knowledge with the names of the editors of various newspapers and magazines etc and update yourself with current affairs related to crime, politics and business specifically. Keep yourself updated with the advertising world and marketing. Your best source of updates could be magazines like Brand Reporter, India Today and Outlook. Even websites like agencyfaqs.com and indiantelevision.com are very useful.

    Internship.
In most BMM colleges, it’s compulsory for all students to seek internship in some media company after their SY. Students must not take internship as only a part of studies but also as an integral part of gaining experience.

BMM teaches you the technical aspect of media but to understand the professional proficiency of it in a practical way, internship is a must. Some colleges do provide internship to its students whereas some don’t. So, one has to be ready to struggle for it. Colleges that I am going to apply to: St. Xaviers, KC, Nationals, Sophiya, Jai Hind and St. Wilson.
