Snapshots

Woah. My first attempt at graphic making for my blog turned out better than I thought it would. I hate depending on pre-made layouts and I have changed the codes for this page much to my liking as well. I would really appreciate some real feedback. What do you think? :P Like it or hate it? What? Blurt it all out in the babble section :D

Birds Of A Feather

Well, yesterday I thought of downloading Netscape for a second browser because I hate using IE with Firefox. Netscape being from the makers of Firefox is just as awesome (except maybe the fact that it doesn't have Adblock, oh well..) Now once I started browsing with Netscape I kept getting this window pop up saying that Netscape is going to be discontinued from April onwards (yada yada yada) and I should try one of the two available browsers from Mozilla - Firefox and Flock.

Well, I usually don't randomly download browsers, I tend to stick to Firefox (dig my claws in, if you may). However, the name Flock is so appealing in itself. Its cute, don't you think? :P I mean, all browsers have such boring names xD That is beside the point though. Once I did download Flock, I was really amazed by its multi functions. It has features that I have never seen or heard of. You directly upload pictures to your Photobucket account (or any other website that you use), you write blog entries by a mere click on the toolbar and publish them without actually going to blogger, signing in, creating, you know the drill. I am writing in the Flock editor myself right now :P Flock also has an auto spell checker (yes, like the one you have in Word). If you're a grammar freak like I am, you would love this because it makes your posts typo-free. Now, isn't that nice o:

You can also access your Facebook, Myspace, YouTube etc. accounts directly. There is also this exciting new feature called a web clipboard that lets you copy and temporarily store text, images, etc. from the web for future use. I chat a lot and this helps so much when I am trying to quote five different people at once. You have to try it to know what I mean. You can install this add on called 'define' which will let you find the dictionary meaning of any word you highlight. Awesome, right?

The only demerit of Flock is that it doesn't have Adblock. Yes. I am obsessed with Adblock, deal with it :P I am hoping that in the near future such an option becomes available because I would really like to completely switch to Flock. Maybe Firefox is on it way out o: Just maybe.. (update: I just found out that it is possible to use Adblock in Flock. You need to follow the same steps as for Firefox. Google Adblock when you're on Flock and install it from there on. Super :D)

Needless to say, I strongly recommend Flock to regular bloggers, web designers and basically people who like having everything organized and in proper order. I am sure everyone of you can find at least one feature which is indispensable. You can go here - http://www.flock.com - to get the very first version of Flock. Let me know what you think. Word out ♥. Blogged with the Flock Browser.

What A Computer Wants

I have a feeling that many people can use this list to keep their programs up to date :) A lot of you are searching for upgrades for MSN but are not sure where to get it and there are some of you who don't know about the extremely useful add ons to MSN and Firefox. Well, I am going to try and compile all of it. This is what your computer really wants, trust me .

Windows Live Messenger: This is version 9 and can be found [here] Yes. It is tons better than any old version of messenger you are stuck with. There are plenty of new features too. You can colour your display names, messenger window and the overall look of messenger is pretty chic (a lot like Windows Vista if any of you use it). Downloading this barely takes a few minutes. You must all download this program right [here] This is Messenger Plus Live. It gives you endless opportunities to customize your messenger. If you check the features page, you can have a look at the various things you can do (this is how your friends have those spiffy font colours on MSN). To give you a gist of what Messenger Plus does, it lets you install messenger skins, various scrips, lock messenger with a password, tabbed chats and lots more.

Limewire: This is where I get all my songs, movies and programs :P To get the latest version of Limewire, check [this] page. However, you do need a relatively fast internet connection for maximum benefits or it would just slow your computer down. Now if you don't already know how to stay wary of viruses and such, let me tell you how to differentiate between a virus infected file and an actual song/video file. A video file is obviously a huge file and would be a couple of MBs. and not (lets say) 30 KBs. That is a virus. Clear? You can also click on the loading file for preview and if it doesn't play at all, then it has to be a virus. In this case just cancel the download :)

Firefox: Please do give Firefox a try before assuming things about it or thinking you're too comfortable with IE. You can download the latest version of Firefox [here]. It is safer, faster and extremely customizable. There are so many add-ons to Firefox unlike dumb IE :P The most popular one is located [here]. It makes your surfing smooth and ad-free. The pages load a lot faster too :D If you don't already know, you can also use every site theme on Neopets if you use Firefox useful and popular add-on to Firefox is Adblock without a doubt. You can find and download Adblock. Yes. That is all I can think of at the moment. If you have any more ideas, feel free to post on the tag box to your left :P As always, I love feedback :) Word out ♥.

25 Things You Should Know About Me

I was reading my old blog a few days back and I stumbled upon the '25 things you should know about me' that I wrote about two years back. Its crazy how much has changed about me ever since and also intriguing at the same thing. I have decided to give this a go once again. Here are the spiked 25 things you should know about me.

  • I love writing. Poetry, articles, blogging, short stories.. you name it. I can't think of a time when I didn't like writing. I suppose I am lucky to have parents that encouraged reading so much that I started wanting to write as well as those books were written.
  • I will never filter what I feel. If there is anything that I can't say to your face, chances are that it isn't true. I will make the truth known, irrespective of the consequences.
  • I can't stand chatspeak or improper grammar. It irks me to see people 'tok lyk dis'. Urh. I love the English language, I don't know why people like ripping it apart over the internet :( I love coding and designing. I am not very good at it but I enjoy learning and it keeps me busy. Isn't that all what matters? :P I'd love to stranded on a desert island with just my desktop. Its all I need to keep me busy -hugs monitor-
  • I love the colour Red. (like that wasn't obvious :P) Red is hot. It's a strong colour that conjures up a range of seemingly conflicting emotions from passionate love to violence and warfare. Red is Cupid and also the Devil ;) It says a lot about me. xD
  • I love pretty little clips and those hair bands with little bows on them are so cute «3 I have a secret crush on Eric Cartman, okay? OMG. The secret is out now x.x -slams head- Seriously though, as crazy as it might sound; I have learnt some really important things from watching South Park.
  • I have started emoting way too much off late. xD See? o: This is mostly because of how much I chat these days, especially on Neopets. I find it hard to post a reply to something without emoting at least once :P
  • OMG. I love my skinnies o: I can wear them anywhere and its hard to do without them. I also can't live without my thick black kohl. It makes me look so goth xD
  • -- I am to think of more stuff. As it turns out, I am not as self obsessed as I used to be two years back.

Leave Britney Spears Alone

I am so sick and tired of these so-called journalists and reporters trying to defame Britney Spears since the past few months. Every move of the poor celebrity is being monitored and scrutinized. I just fail to understand how someone else's misery makes for good reporting.

It has already been established that her mental condition isn't stable. She had the highly publicized break up with childhood sweetheart Justin Timberlake, two failed marriages, her career is down in the dumps and she is now barred from seeing her two sons. What do you expect her to do? She is only human.

I realize that people enjoy building up a celebrity out of an ordinary person and love seeing them fall to pieces; but don't you think its gone too far this time? I think the media plays a major role in such a situation and they are doing nothing but exploiting Britney. If we keep trying to push her over the edge, who knows how far things can go? Things are already getting out of hand..

Before you pick up your newspaper to read the latest trashy bit written on the 'troubled' pop star or what she's gone and done now, sit back and think of what I have just expressed. I think we're contributing to this yellow journalism by reading such rubbish. When there are more important things going on in the world, how does such loose talk make for news? Think about it. That is all I ask of you :)

P.S. Thanks South Park #1202 for helping me realize how wrong I was following 'Britney Watch' and for many other lessons that I have learnt through a medium that is never expected to make sense. Never say never I guess :P

Neopets.com

There aren't words to describe how amazing Neopets.com is. For those of you who don't know about Virtual Pet sites, let me give you a head start. A virtual pet site or VPS is where people can adopt and take care of virtual pets, buy items, play games, earn virtual money and explore lands. Many have clubs, as well as forums, mailing systems and adding friends. Bigger sites have auctions, trading and battling arenas. Neopets.com is by far the biggest and most widespread VPS.

I was introduced to Neopets by a friend of mine when I was about 13 years old. Yes, I have been playing ever since! You can't even begin to comprehend how much there is to do and how addicting this site can be.

You can start by creating a pet; there are about fifty different species, specific only to Neopets to choose from in four default colours. You can have upto a maximum of four pets on one account. Once you've created your account and pet, be sure to activate it or you will not be able to enjoy all aspects of the game.

Once the initial aspects are taken care of, you can start exploring the worlds in Neopia by clicking on the navigation bar. You can buy toys, food, clothing, battle equipment, books, etc. for you pet. You can go to the boards and chat or ask some of the many questions that will be popping in your head. You can 'neomail' other users for more private means of communication and add them to your Neofriend list, if you like.

Neopets.com has about 250 and over active games. New games are added every now and then. Scoring in these games will let you redeem Neopoints or NPs for short. NPs is the Neopian currency. It's what you use to buy, sell, trade, auction, etc. You can also earn NPs by selling your own items in your shop.

Now, this isn't just about it. Like I said earlier, the possibilities are endless. If you're good at drawing or sketching you can enter your Neopets into Beauty Contests. If you're good at writing, you can send in an entry for the weekly issue of the Neopian Times. If you're good at CSS or HTML, you can design your pages and show off your skills. If you're good at games, there are trophies that each game will earn you for being on the high score list.

There are also guilds you can join and meet like minded people from all over the world. It is this aspect of Neopets that I love the most. I probably have a bunch of friends in every continent and it really affects the way you perceive things when you communicate with someone from a completely different culture.

All the time that I have spent on Neopets, I have loved it. I am sure you will too. You must give it a try because there is nothing you have to lose. Neopets will make a boring Sunday afternoon totally worth your time ;) If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask. Now what are you waiting for? Create your account now! Word out ♥.

If you have any ideas, please leave them on the tag board -pokes board on the right- I have disabled comments because I only want to use the tag board :P Thats all for now. Word out ♥.
